Wendy Gilmore , Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Neurology and Cell and Neurobiology
Division Chief, MS Comprehensive Care Center & Research Group
Keck School of Medicine at USC
Dr. Gilmore investigates how immune responses are regulated in individuals with multiple sclerosis and in relevant models of multiple sclerosis. She is nationally recognized for her work on the influence of hormones and pregnancy on the function of T cells, and serves on review panels for the NIH and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Current projects in her laboratory involve the study of regulatory and effector T cell subsets during pregnancy in multiple sclerosis, the influence of sex steroid hormones on T cell functions, and approaches to the investigation of T cell balance, or homeostasis in MS and autoimmunity. Finally, a new project in her laboratory involves the study of a developmental pathway, known as the wnt signaling pathway, in disease processes and repair of tissue damage in models of MS.
